Yonder Report

A partnership between the Daily Yonder and Public News Service

ROLE: Whether I'm voicing or not, I acquire audio, cut audio, write, and edit scripts for the Yonder Report on a weekly basis. I have the opportunity to voice a handoff story every other week or so. Some examples are below.

My segment starts around minute mark 1:00 mark

The contested Farm Workforce Modernization Act before Congress could help more farmers stay in business by hiring undocumented ag workers; the USDA is stepping-up to support tribal nations that want to adhere to Indigenous beliefs and dietary needs; and advocates for children are urging Congress to revive the expanded child tax credit.

My segment starts around minute mark 0:54 mark.

The Old Farmer's Almanac predicts a "Tale of Two Winters" across U.S. states; the Inflation Reduction Act could level the playing field for rural electric co-ops; and pharmacies in rural America play a vital role, but their numbers are dwindling.

My segment starts around minute mark 1:05 mark.

A mega-merger between chicken processing companies moves forward despite a probe into antitrust violations; an abortion coalition in the Midwest is promoting a work-around for those facing harsh restrictions; and in contrast to most rural areas, recreation counties are less politically polarized.
